This was the second of two concepts I did for Razorfist in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, done while the casting was still intended to be Chinese. The original comics character simply wears black pants, a black tank top and a black wrestler's mask, so as always I initially try to pay homage to the original costume in my design. In this case I wanted to marry modern tactical gear with more traditional Chinese armor, so in both of my designs I incorporated ancient mountain star armor plating into more modern body armor forms. The mask was meant to be a SWAT face shield painted like Chinese opera makeup. The pants are shamelessly inspired by my good friend Errolson Hugh's Acronym line of techwear, which Razorfist would undoubtedly be aware of and adapt to his needs. The blades were designed to fold out of razor-sharp robotic hands. More on the details of that process in my alternate design.
