Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2019) - Non-Lethal Projectile Weapon Ideas

Some non-lethal projectile weapon ideas for the Mandarin's Spec Ops in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, working under Marvel Vis-Dev supervisor Andy Park. I was just trying to come up with out-of-the-box ideas. Ultimately they decided against projectile weapons beyond the energy crossbows featured in the film.

Soldier costume design referenced is by brilliant colleague Jana Schirmer.

I really liked this concept, having a laser paint the target with meridian lines and qi points, then hit them with acupuncture needles. Would have been a fun gag.

Some silhouette exploration, looking for shapes that broke from the traditional gun and telegraphed their non-lethal nature. I tried to play the yin/yang symbol into a few as well.
