The Fantastic Four (2023) - Yancy Street

I did a brief stint on Fantastic Four during early development, mostly doing blue-sky concepts of what a retro-future New York would look like, as well as vehicle concepts. At the time the idea was that this universe diverged during the '50's when Reed Richards developed cheap, free energy, so futuristic buildings are retrofitted over familiar New York architecture. I was looking to come up with something radically different for cars, so developed the idea of gyroscopically stabilized vehicles riding on one omni-directional traction sphere, that would retract when the car went airborne. This painting combines both ideas, as well as featuring Ryan Meinerding's brilliant bearded Thing walking to temple alongside Johnny Storm. This is one of the few images I did that were approved for social media in anticipation of the upcoming "The Art of The Fantastic Four" book release. Looking forward to sharing more after the book comes out.
