Nvidia Project Sol Pt. 3 suit redesign.

For their 3rd Project Sol real-time raytracing demo, Nvidia wanted to update the main character design. The incomparable Gavriil Klimov contacted me to do a paintover of the original suit and create a "Mk2" upgrade for the new short film. The goal was to keep the design recognizably the same character, but update it to something that reads as the next generation. To me that meant finding a graphic theme that unified what were already some very cool existing forms. Using renders of Cki Vang's original model, I did some quick lines to show the direction I wanted to go, and upon approval painted the new design in Photoshop, again over renders of the previous suit. I did do some quick sketch modelling in zBrush to work out some forms, as well as figuring out how the guns might pop out of the forearms. Thanks again to Gavriil and the team at Nvidia for a fun project! You can find the final video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2WOjo0C-xE
Check it out, the team did a great job.

Final paintover (over Cki Vang's original design.) The challenge was to create something fresh but recognizable, while keeping the proportions and rigging the same given the timeframe.
