Early in the project, Poppy's base of operations was going to be her beauty salon, rather than the diner. I did a few grayscale sketches to envision what a nostalgic, "retro" salon could look like, drawing from four iconic styles.
Probably the closest of any to the final design as seen in the film. A few design elements were retained, such as the circular pattern on the wall and the hanging plants over the circular dias

Originally Poppy would have punished her wayward employees with a pirhana-filled pedicure tank rather than the meat grinder.
