The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2023) - Fantasticar Concepts

One of the first jobs Marvel's Head of Vis Dev Ryan Meinerding had me tackle during early development on Fantastic Four was the Fantasticar. In the absence of a story or script at this point in development I drew from F4 lore. I always loved the idea of the flying vehicle that splits into independent units, so I tried to come up with something that felt cohesive as a whole when connected but also gave each vehicle a different character on their own. I think Tim Flattery's design from the Fox movies was actually quite successful. For this one I also wanted to tap into the 50's jet-age dream car aesthetic that the show was already gravitating toward under Ryan's direction.

Unfortunately it became clear from the very first presentation that the director was not interested in going with the modular concept, so I never got the chance to take this further and flesh out each car.
